The optimist is, quite simply, the boat in which the young people of the world learn to sail.
The word "Optimist" and the symbol above are Registered Trademarks of the IODA in respect of boats, sails and sporting events.
This year, AGM proposals from members shall be received on or before July 31; and bids for IODA events on October 31.

Eligibility
Please note that any sailor attending the IODA European Championship is not eligible to participate in the IODA Worlds in Malaysia.

Age and eligibility:
Sailors who turn 15 in the year of the event are allowed to participate, even when the championship finishes in the following year.
