The GrandOptical Champions' Cup was created five years ago to stimulate interest in team racing at club level in Europe in the Optimist Class. Each team must be composed of bona-fide club members and have won a national inter-club team racing championship.

Thanks to generous sponsorship by eyewear company GrandOptical entry, charter, accommodation and meals are all free of charge for five sailors and a club coach. Few of the sailors involved are members of their countries’ national teams and the event provides a focus for those who might never otherwise sail on an international team.
